Job Description Dispatcher

Position Summary

The Dispatcher acts as a liaison between truckers and manufacturing facilities, serving as the primary contact for internal and external customers.

Essential Job Functions

  • As needed site visits to internal / external customers to address communication or other issues as needed
  • Schedule truckers to service internal and external customer, ongoing follow up to manage customer service as required
  • Maintain daily trucking schedule, including:
  1. Customer Job information
  2. Order quantity
  3. Truckers assigned
  4. Timely Distribute schedule to all internal sales and operations
  • Openly Communicate with internal departments, sales, QC, Production, Operations AR, etc.
  • Monitor truck efficiencies / increase productivity
  • Verify that all Hired Haulers are in compliance with NYSS requirements prior to assigning work
  • Maintain truck availability attendance log
  • Complete reports on any accident or safety violation involving Hired Haulers
  • Assist Operations as required

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience, Bachelor's degree preferred.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to utilize mathematical concepts to compute rate, ratio, percent, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, volume, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply reasonable judgment to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Required Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office software; strong organizational and time management skills; must be able to maintain confidential information.

Scope and Responsibility: Responsible for servicing customers of U.S. Concrete.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, walk, talk, hear and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.

Work Environment

The incumbent is in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
