Payroll Department Manager

Job Summary:  This is a skilled supervisory position requiring the employee to manage a team charged with the performance of a wide variety of payroll and office functions. 

Primary responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Management and supervision of a staff.
  • Processing of daily and semi-monthly payroll process to ensure all associated coding and data entry is completed.
  • Provide support to HR/Payroll Team, research and resolve HR and payroll system issues, and unexpected results or process flaws.
  • Day to day HR/Payroll application support including maintenance, configuration requirements, document processes and results, collaborate with HR/Payroll Team, create new and maintain system tables/interfaces.
  • Identify and diagnose system and application errors.
  • Responsible for security administration and creation of security profiles.
  • Manage union fringe benefit reporting for multiple unions.
  • Preparation and processing of weekly/semi-monthly payroll for all employees.
  • Write, maintain and support a variety of reports and queries utilizing ADP and other appropriate reporting tools. Assist in development of standard reports for ongoing business needs. Maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data.
  • Verify monthly/quarterly and year-end tax filings/statements for accuracy.
  • Train and develop user procedures, guidelines and documentation. Train users on new processes/functionality. Train new users.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with Kronos and ADP, or other similar platforms.
  • Minimum of 3 years' payroll supervisory experience in company of similar size preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively lead a team, communicate effectively with others, make positive contributions to workplace, and provide outstanding internal customer service.
  • Understanding of Union Contracts.
  • Union Fringe Benefit reporting experience required.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality as required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software preferred: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Knowledge of basic office practices.

Work Hours (average):

  • 8-10 Hours Per Day, 5 Days Per Week
