Job Summary

Responsible for the oversight and implementation of the Company's safety programs and initiatives. Work efforts focused on training aimed at significantly reducing at-risk behaviors, accident/incident investigation, accident/injury reporting and participating in various meetings. Works in close coordination with the local safety coordinators to drive themes, safety committees, inspections, and claims management. Reports to Regional EHS Manager and/or General Manager for assigned division. Essential Duties and Responsibilities


* Manages and facilitates the Health and Safety training programs for employees, to include new hire safety training, new driver training, OSHA required training, Tool Box safety meetings, monthly safety meetings, DOT required training, and any remedial training.


* Organizes all regulated testing, to include respiratory and audiometric testing for employees covered under respective respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs and IH testing for noise, silica, and other exposures.


* Inspects plant locations, machinery, equipment, and construction sites to ensure compliance with the State and Federal safety and health regulations as well as the company policies and procedures. Also responsible that all risk management, insurance, fire and security requirements are met.


* Communicates with appropriate operation and management staff concerning safety concerns, results, or anomalies identified.


* Maintains knowledge of OSHA regulations and expands job knowledge by participating in training opportunities, to include industry news and developments.


* Investigates all workplace accidents and vehicular accidents to ascertain root cause and contributing causes for use in future preventative measures and further development of overall safety program.


* Prepares written reports for all workplace accidents and vehicular accidents with recommendations for corrective action.


* Prepares and coordinates accident follow-up training in order to disseminate pertinent accident information, and casual factors.

* Serves as liaison with medical providers, clinics and corporate risk team members in an attempt to promote quality care with cost effective outcomes.


* Collates and reports all facility damage, general liability claims, motor vehicle accidents, and worker's compensation claims to the Regional EHS Manager and General Manager for the assigned division.


* Conducts behavioral observations of employees to identify unsafe workplace habits and use of prescribed safety practices and equipment. Also prepares written reports detailing observation findings.


* Aides the operations team with jobsite observations, readiness planning, and scheduling of large or specialty projects.


* If driving, maintains delivery, truck, and driving records by obtaining receipt acknowledgments; recording tracking information; completing driver log and truck performance forms and/or acceptable electronic version. * Other duties and responsibilities to include remote projects related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis, as need to support the successful business operation.


Supervisory Responsibilities


* Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


* Recruiting, New hire training, coaching and counseling and completing appropriate documentation for each


* Provides feedback on reviews and monitors efforts and initiatives carried out by the indirect reports and other plant personnel.


* Conducting meetings, safety, informational, and motivational.


* Responsible for evaluating the performance, training needs, professional development, and discipline of direct or indirect reports.




High School diploma and GED, degree preferred

Minimum 5-7 years related experience and/or training in related functions; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Prior experience in multi-site production/manufacturing environment required.

Must have valid driver's license.

Must have ability to read, analyze and interpret common financial reports and legal documents.

Proficient in MS Office suite, web-based data management tools and Internet applications.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community and peers.

Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions


Physical Environment


Frequent ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds throughout shift

Frequent ability to sit, climb, reach, and bend throughout shift

Moderate ability to travel to remote sites, up to 20% possible overnight

Ability to pass a DOT physical on annual basis, including a NIDA drug screen.

Moderate ability to operate heavy machinery.

Able to work in extreme conditions including hot or cold temperatures, noise, dirt, dust, with moderate noise levels.
