Position Summary

The Senior Business Applications Analyst supports business strategies and improves business processes by overseeing the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of business applications.  Success in this role requires hands-on involvement in all aspects of the application lifecycle management and strong relationships with fellow peers and managers across the business.

This position will report directly to the Manager of Business Applications.

Essential Job Functions

  • Support day to day management, including new installs, new acquisitions, and troubleshooting of the Command Alkon product suite.
  • Working with and supporting multiple business applications, outside of the Oracle ERP solution. (Ex. COMMANDSeries, COMMANDBatch, COMMANDQC, OnBase, GPS solutions, TMT, Kronos, ADP, etc.)
  • Familiarity with multiple application platforms and database platforms
  • Technical background including ability to write and execute SQL queries
  • Leading and managing project teams and working closely with the business units.
  • Working closely with Manager of Business Applications in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of business applications solutions.
  • Overseeing multiple high-visibility projects and initiatives, coordinating schedules and stakeholder communications throughout the business.
  • Work with and assist in managing vendors and contract resources.
  • Gathering and interpreting business requirements, priorities and collaborating across business areas to understand and support the requisite operational needs.
  • Fostering the expansion of business application expertise and support outside of the IT team.
  • Providing technical guidance on application design, development, and implementation best practices.
  • Working closely with the IT Operations and Service Delivery teams.
  • Monitoring industry and technical trends, assessing impacts on current and future applications.
  • Monitor project status and completion daily to ensure project(s) are on track and moving towards completion.
  • Review projects for risks/issues/change requests as well as mitigation options and submit to the governance board for review and next steps.
  • Identify and proactively mitigate issues and risks in responsible projects daily.
  • Provide training to resources in critical areas of need on a quarterly basis.
  • Travels occasionally as required.
  • Scoping and estimating potential projects.
  • Defining, sequencing and estimating project tasks.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated prior leadership in planning, directing and administering of work efforts.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a cross functional environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to manage meetings, lead project teams, and communicate effectively with senior management.

Education and Experience:

  • 8+ years of IT work experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience as a project manager.
  • 4+ years of work experience in business applications support role.
  • Strong expertise in managing multiple projects across multiple business areas.
  • Relentless commitment to authentic relationships and continuous improvement of those relationships.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Active listener.
  • Proactive work ethic and intellectual curiosity.
  • Exposure to a variety of business applications and ability to critique each based on the business scenario at hand.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies for incremental-delivery project management and development.
  • Bachelor's degree.

 Other Required Skills:

 Extensive knowledge and expertise in the construction materials industry. Advanced proficiency in business analyst and project management methodologies.
