Job Summary

Responsible for daily sales, call handling and dispatch direction of truck and driver resources. Reports to Operations Manager for assigned location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


* Answers incoming phone calls and enters sales orders into dispatching system, specifying customer information, order type, quantity of cubic yards, and required billing information.


* Demonstrates the ability to take phone inquiries; help customers define their needs and relate these needs to our service, prices and conditions of sale.


* Schedules orders for best efficiency of drivers and equipment to obtain maximum yards/man hours.


* Handles customer complaints in a professional manner, effectively communicates resolution options, and directs escalated issues to the appropriate department leads when necessary.


* Communicates with the drivers using the 2-way radio system and notating the progress or needs of the field accordingly.


* Maintains positive relationships with material vendors, suppliers, and truckers.


* Develops and sustains a high level of morale with drivers. Also heavily influences driver attitude, culture, and servitude.


* Assist in training, discipline, and performance feedback of plant trainees, drivers, and sales personnel.


* Complies with all safety regulations at the plant, truck, and driving set forth by the company and regulations under 49 CFR Part 383. Required to wear all assigned PPE and uniforms, to include hard hat, safety glasses, and ANSI 75 rated boots. * Capable of serving as backup for drivers when needed. While driving, maintains delivery, truck, and driving records by obtaining receipt acknowledgments; recording tracking information; completing driver log and truck performance forms and/or acceptable electronic version.

* Communicates effectively with all departments within plant, to include mechanics, managers, and peers. * Expands job knowledge by participating in training opportunities.


* Desires having the opportunity to use job autonomy to maximize customer service, quality, and productivity while minimizing cost to operate truck/mixer. * Other duties and responsibilities to include remote projects related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis, as need to support the successful business operation.



High school diploma or GED

Minimum of 3-5 years related experience

Proficient in MS Office suite, web-based data management tools and Internet applications

Valid state driver license, Class A or B CDL preferred

Detail orientated

Must have good communication skills, bilingual in Spanish preferred


Physical Environment


Frequent ability to sit, stand, and bend throughout shift

Frequent ability to see, type, speak, and listen throughout shift

Moderate ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds throughout shift

Moderate ability to operate heavy machinery

Ability to pass a DOT physical on annual basis, including a NIDA drug screen.

Able to work in extreme conditions including hot or cold temperatures, noise, dirt, dust, with moderate noise levels
